TRAVEL INSURANCE

When travelling anywhere in the world, it is important that you have appropriate travel insurance. This is vital for trekking in Nepal. The cost of illness overseas can be crippling, so through ensuring you have adequate travel insurance you are covering yourself for unexpected medical costs. Effective travel insurance will also cover you against travel risks such as lost or stolen luggage, travel delays or cancellations. And these days, it’s important to also make sure that you are covered for COVID-related medical events.

In order to trek in Nepal with Sherpa Spirit Treks, we require that you have comprehensive travel insurance. Please note that we will need proof of this insurance before your trek departure date. Please refer to our Terms and condition for more information.

Sherpa Spirit Treks deems comprehensive travel insurance to include cover for the following:

Coverage for trekking up to and above the highest altitude of the trek (see more details below):

  • Emergency rescue and evacuation
  • Medical treatment
  • Payment of hospitalisation
  • Repatriation to home country
  • Travel delays
  • Loss of luggage, money etc
  • Equipment such as cameras, laptops etc.
  • Death and disability
  • Cancellation of trek
  • COVID-related medical events

The most important aspect of comprehensive travel insurance for trekking in Nepal is to ensure you are covered for trekking activities up to and above the highest altitude of the trek (you can find this information on our trekking pages), along with emergency rescue and evacuation, medical treatment, hospitalisation, death and disability, repatriation to your home country, and COVID-related medical events.
